You might think of chiropractic as something that is only for the neck and low back, but Dr. O'Brien also adjusts knees, hips, shoulders and wrists. He specializes in extremity work and making sure all the joints of the body are working well to give athletes a competitive edge and sports enthusiasts some well needed relief when the occasional game leaves residual aches and pains.
Although Dr. O'Brien started with Gerken Family Chiropractic in December 2021, he has been working as a chiropractor all over the Chula Vista Area for over 20 years. You might have seen him driving his "mobiledoc" vehicle equipped to take x-rays on the spot. After years working as a "mobile" doc, Dennis now calls Gerken Family Chiropractic home and we're excited to have him on our team.
Dr. O’Brien majored in Biology at Patton University. He has always had a love of sports and focused his education on the healing and recovery of sport injuries. He is well versed in all sports and able to help athletes and weekend warriors achieve their fitness goals, as well as, balance muscles for optimum strength and performance. Dr. O’Brien went back to school and completed his doctorate in Chiropractic through the Cleveland College of Chiropractic in 1998 with a focus on sports injuries.
Dr. O’Brien started working with patients in 1999 while working with law enforcement for 26 years. In addition to working with the local high schools and Olympic athletes, he has also worked with mature athletes to enhance and optimize their sports performance.
